Suzanne has created programs and support for people around the world since 2012.
Her free volunteer work has brought her the greatest amount of fulfillment and purpose in life.
As Suzanne says, “It is with a small effort on our parts that we are able to have a big impact in other parts of the world. Can you imagine if we each did one thing to create a positive impact? Let's do that!”
When you attend a Life Cafe, you’ll be around people who are consciously choosing to show up in life with LOVE over fear.
They include group discussions about:
How to increase awareness of what makes a great life
Understanding that we are all connected and in this journey together
Creating an environment of unconditional love and kindness for all
Life cafes are always free, inclusive, respectful, and confidential.
ONGOING
Doulagivers Level 1 End of Life Caregiver Training at Chonprathan Medical Center. This Doulagivers training is for palliative care nurses, community heads, PC volunteers and leaders involved in home care services.
2023 EKR Respite House
While speaking at a Thanatology conference in Guatemala City in 2019, Suzanne was made aware of people coming into the city to get medical treatment for the sick and dying. The head of EKR Guatemala started a respite house to provide a safe place for patients and families to stay at no charge to avoid the risks of sleeping on the streets. Doulagivers Institute and Suzanne O’Brien donated the funds needed to complete the EKR house.
2019 Trainings
Suzanne traveled to Thailand and did 14 Doulagivers Trainings throughout the country for hospitals, nursing schools, temples, and Buddhist Monks who work in end-of-life care.
The Doulagivers Training continues to be taught through our Lead Doulagivers Trainers through the Thailand Ministry of Public Health and through the Chonprathan Hospital in their Buddhist Psychology program.
2012 Volunteer Trip
Suzanne volunteered as a hospice nurse, and donated equipment, medication, and support.
2019 Training
In 2019 San Beda University incorporated the Doulagivers Training into their Nursing School Curriculum.
